Over 2 years ago, information came to light that Apple was deliberately limiting the performance of its smartphones. After updating the software to version 10.2.1, iPhones monitored the battery and its status all the time, and if at some point the system decided that the phone was working briefly on one charge, it reduced the processor's performance in order to make the device work longer after one charge. Users were not informed about the changes and although users were given the opportunity to change batteries at affordable prices, the matter did not end there.

French General Directorate for Competition Policy (DGCCRF) brought an accusation against Apple that was supposed to result in compensation. The commission expected Apple to be fined 5% of the company's annual income, but ultimately the US company was fined with 25 million of euro. Apple accepted the judgment without appeal.
