The vast majority of companies which are making their own smartwatches now focus on developing functions connected with healthcare. So far, Apple has shown that it strongly focuses on the development of its Apple Watch through interesting features such as measuring physical fitness including information about the pulse and increased heart rate. In the nearest future situation on market may change, because as the latest rumors say Samsung wants to compete with Apple and company has patented a very interesting feature that may appear in Gear S4 – this smartwatch may have option of monitoring blood pressure.
This function will use light beams which will be implemented to the smartwatch (for example heart rate sensors), and basing on results and some special algorithms device may have function to return us information about blood pressure in our body. If this patent will work correctly then devices like Gear S4 or Omron HeartGuide which was presented previously on CES 2018 may drastically change healthcare for each person around the world.
