Google Maps application regularly prompts users with different route options when searching for the optimal route for navigation. Usually, Google distinguishes between paid and completely free routes, also estimating the potential duration of the trip. The latest modification of Google Maps is to take care of the ecology during the trip as much as possible.

It is about the option to search for cheaper, eco-friendly routes to travel. The new routing mode will look for an efficient way to travel, including factors such as tolls, current traffic or scheduled stops. In addition, to choose from in the application, it will also be possible to choose the type of fuel used by the vehicle we will travel. The algorithms will present the user with information on the saved fuel by selecting an alternative route. This option has been tested by users from the United States and Canada for almost a year and a half, and now it will go to nearly 40 new countries. This list includes, inter alia, France, Ireland, Poland, Spain and the United Kingdom.
