The main rival for the new Microsoft service named Project xCloud, is mainly Steam platform. Project xCloud is supposed to work in a similar way to the Steam Link application, which in assumptions was made to allow playing games from the Steam platform anywhere using our smartphone. If you want to see if Steam's previous announcements are reflected in reality, then you can already test their builds. The latest app's update has officially launched access to the Steam Link Anywhere feature.

Before the update, application allowed to play games using our phone only when smartphone was connected to the same Internet network as the computer with enabled Steam. Steam Link Anywhere, as the name suggests, allows you to play games outside of our home, because after updating Steam Link doesn't require that both devices need to be connected to the same network. The function is still in the beta phase, but plans itself gives grounds to believe that this project will be successful. Only Android users can try beta version at the moment.
