Currently on the smartphones market there is a trend of using more and more glass in parts of devices. Placing the glass back panel in the phone allows, among other things, wireless charging of the device, and at the same this option benefits the producers because the production of the glass back of the smartphone is cheaper than the metal finish. Samsung announced that they created an "unbreakable" screen. Interestingly, this part of the phone which is made of glass in most of cases, in Samsung's solution was made of plastic.

Hojung Kim, who is General Manager of Samsung Display described their product as fortified plastic window which is suitable for smartphones because of its lightweight, transmissivity and hardness which are all very similar to glass. Display was tested by Underwriters Laboratories by series of drops. UL dropped display 26 times from 1.2 meters, and after it they also tested new Samsung's project in high and low temperatures. After all UL decided to drop display from 1.8 meters, but none of the tests caused damage to the display. Obviously, at the end UL issued a certificate which allows for using new type of screen.
