The function called Nearby Share, developed by Google, is the equivalent of Apple's AirDrop. It allows you to share files, photos or videos to other Android devices or to Chromebooks. The function automatically uses the available technologies to select the optimal way to transfer files in a fast manner without the need to use the cloud. In the near future, this feature is likely to be expanded even further, making it even easier and faster to send files between nearby devices.

Mishaal Rahman on his Twitter account further announced that the Nearby Share option will now detect nearby devices that use Android system. Thanks to this, it will be possible to automatically transfer files between devices without the need to confirm file transfer, which will significantly speed up the process of transferring photos or videos. The mention of file sharing between trusted devices in the "Your Devices" section was noticed in Google Play Services, which almost officially confirms that improvements to the Nearby Share feature are only a matter of time.
