On 3rd of December 1992, the first SMS text message was sent. This year, this message celebrated its 30th anniversary and an unusual way to celebrate this occasion was presented by Google. The company decided that on the birthday of SMS, a new form of encryption of messages sent in group chats will be presented, which will increase the security of users and content transmitted within conversations.

According to the presented changes in the official Google's Messages application, messages within group conversations will also be encrypted from now on. End-to-end encryption technology will be used, which until now has only appeared in standard conversations. Such changes are possible thanks to the use of RCS messaging technology, which in practice is an improved version of SMS. It is used by many companies, but Apple stubbornly refuses to use it, which means that messaging between Android and iOS has not yet been unified and probably will not be in the near future.
