The presence of the coronavirus around us has forced changes in almost every aspect of functioning. This even applies to the handling of our phones. When we are outside and wearing a mask, the functions responsible for unlocking the phone with our face become useless. Manufacturers, however, are trying to adapt to the realities of our current functioning, hence Apple announces that updating iOS to version 14.5 will allow some users to unlock the iPhone via FaceID despite wearing a face mask.
After updating iOS to the latest version, users will be able to unlock the phone using the Apple Watch even while wearing the mask. The process of unlocking the phone in this case will start with the use of the phone, which will have task to detect that the user actually has a mask on his face. The system then confirms whether the user is wearing Apple Watch all the time on his or her wrist. If the verification is confirmed, the iPhone will be unlocked directly. In addition, users will also get the option to lock their phones remotely by using a special function displayed on the Apple Watch's screen.
