Users are increasingly paying attention to the maximum screen brightness parameter on the phone. With the increase in nits in the brightness of the screen, the comfort of using the phone on a sunny day improves, but this detail also affects the color reproduction itself on the screen. In the past, a record 2000 nit in the screen was used, inter alia, by Apple in its iPhones. At that time, however, the production of displays involved cooperation with, among others, Samsung, which will use this experience and prepare a new, proprietary screen supporting brightness up to 2000 nit.

The new screen is to be created with smartphones in mind. It was officially presented at CES 2023 and was named UDR 2000. The created screen received certification confirmed by UL Solutions, which approves the safety of the offered screen. So far, Samsung has made the most of its flagship smartphone screens supporting brightness up to 1750 nit. There is a chance that the first Samsung phone to support 2000 nit brightness will be the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.
