The Israeli company named Corephotonics some time ago officially patented solutions regarding the operation of the main camera in smartphones. According to the company's superiors, Apple broke the law and American company used them without permission from Corephotonics' side. Firm has evidence that solutions have been used on some iPhones without the knowledge of Corephotonics.
The company filed a lawsuit, which indicates that Apple has benefited from patents regarding zoom using optical and digital lenses at the same time, from combining photos made by different lenses and from option of quick switching between lenses. According to Corephotonics, these solutions were used by Apple during creating iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. The whole thing becomes even more interesting when we add that Corephotonics was taken over by Samsung for 155 million of dollars several months ago. The accusations sound very serious, but we have to wait a bit before we know the court's opinion in this case.
