BBM is the shortcut which means BlackBerry Messenger. This app was developed and made public by the manufacturer of BlackBerry phones, and from 2013 application is also available on Android and iOS systems. Since 2016, the license for consumer version of this application has been purchased by Indonesian company Emtek, which bought it from BlackBerry for 207 million of dollars. It turns out that consumer version of BBM will be shut down on 31st of May, basing on the report from official blog of the application. This doesn't mean, however, that whole brand will completely disappear from the market.

Consumer version wasn't able to compete with applications such as Messenger, but on the Internet appeared enterprise version of BBM. From now it is available globally, for all users using Android and iOS systems, and additionally, for the first year subscription for BBM Enterprise will be free. After a year, users will be given the option to extend their subscriptions for a fee of 2.49 of dollars for next half of year.
