The Giphy platform has been closely linked to services owned by Facebook for some time. Customers can use Giphy, among others, when using Messenger, WhatsApp or Instagram. Some reports indicate that up to 50% of Giphy entries come from social networking sites. Therefore, buying a platform was a natural step for Facebook, which was finally confirmed today.
Facebook paid 400 million of dollars for Giphy. On the social networks themselves which are owned by Facebook, there will probably be introduced some facilities to make it even easier to use Giphy, but the portal responsible for sharing gifs will go without any changes and the service will continue to work in the same shape as before takeover.
