The introduction of 5G connectivity in smartphones is a process that will last several months. At the moment, only a few countries can say that they are ready to introduce this type of service, and to this group we can include for example South Korea. Despite this, smartphone manufacturers are slowly working on the creation of devices which will be ready to operate 5G, but for this firms need a large number of produced 5G modems. That's why Apple had started talks with Mediatek and Samsung counting on the final agreement, but results of these talks so far are unknown, so Apple can finally decide to produce their own chipsets. By accident, we received information about cooperation between Apple and Intel.
Sandra Rivera, the head of the department responsible for creating chipsets in Intel, confirmed that cooperation between companies will be continued. What's more, she determined the initial date when the first 5G chips will be ready. If these dates will be confirmed, then first modems will go to smartphone manufacturers during this year. This means that the introduction of 5G modems in the final version, which will be ready for global use should be expected in 2020.
