Pixel 4 series of smartphones was presented a few days ago. The phones themselves were not too much of a surprise for both us and for customers, as the details about the specifications of phones leaked to the Internet well before the official premiere organized by Google. One of the biggest new features in the phones was to be able to turn on 90Hz screen refresh and in fact such an option was added, but as it turns out, to use it you need to meet additional conditions about which Google had not previously informed.

When we use the phone with standard settings, Pixel 4 will allow us to use the screen refresh rate 90Hz only when the display brightness is set to a minimum of 75%. When the brightness is lower, the phone will automatically reduce the frequency to 60 Hz. However, there is a way to force 90Hz refresh regardless of the screen settings. This option is hidden in developer options. If you do not want to use them, it is not possible to solve this problem in other way yet. For now, Google did not speak on the issue regarding restrictions on the screen refresh rate.
