The European Union has been working for a long time to determine the rules to be applied by the new Digital Services Act, often abbreviated as DSA. The final shape of the changes has been confirmed and in September this year, new regulations will come into force on the market within the European Union, which will force certain changes, among others, on the developers of mobile applications. They also include TikTok, which will have to adapt to EU rules.

The DSA is ultimately intended to force online platforms to introduce new rules for the protection of personal data, including the default privacy rules when entering websites. The GDPR will continue to apply, and content moderation will also change to be more transparent, including adding extended comments as to why specific content has been removed. In the event of failure to comply with the new rules by September this year at the latest, TikTok will have to resign from operating in the European Union, or a fine of up to 6% of the company's annual revenue will be imposed on the company.
