South Korea is one of the leaders when it comes to the pace of development of 5G technology. The country wants to take advantage of its strong position in this technological area and for this reason the local Ministry of Science and ICT announced that by 2028 the country wants to launch the first 6G network.
The network is to be based on proprietary software and components created by local companies. The project was valued at approximately 482 million of dollars. If the South Korean government manages to implement this type of network within 5 years, the country will probably become the holder of the largest share of patents related to 5G and 6G technologies. As for the possibilities that 6G is ultimately supposed to provide for users, according to Zhang Yongtao, manager of the Chinese branch of Ericsson, this type of connection may even allow for communication between users through the use of holograms.
