Good advertising is the key to marketing success, but you need to be vigilant when learning about it as a consumer. Sometimes happens that manufacturers accidentally or completely deliberately mislead consumers by providing false information in advertisements. This happened (at least in opinion of ACCC) in the case of Samsung and Galaxy series ads. What's more, ACCC will file a lawsuit against Samsung.

Australian Competition and Comnsumer Commision accuses Samsung of lying in advertisements regarding water resistance of the phone. Samsung in its advertisements indicated that Galaxy series phones with IP68 certification are able to last in water in the depth of 1.5 meters up to 30 minutes. It turns out that this is not true and the IP68 certification itself doesn't apply to salt water, but only to "regular" drinking water. According to ACCC, the slogans and advertising posters in Australia may mislead consumers, suggesting that phone owners from this country can use the Galaxy series even if they are swimming in the sea. Samsung responded to allegations, saying that the company can't record any lies in the published advertisements, so ultimately both sides will meet in court to settle the dispute.
