Researchers at Northwestern University developed a mobile app called Purple Robot.

It can detect depression by using smartfon data such as location, movement, and usage patterns. The main goal for the creation of the app is to identify if the user is depressed, according to School of Medicine Research Group.

For now, the app was sucessful in 87% in a test group, which included 28 participants. For those, who did not use phone for talking or texting, it was 74% success.

That concludes the first round of the study. The project will be continued as the smartfon depression rate is getting bigger every year. Application may be a great chance to help those with mental health problems.
