In just a few days, on 9th of February, Samsung will organize a standard event called Unpacked. As usual, during this event, the company will present new devices and this time they will be flagship smartphones from the Galaxy series. This year it will be smartphones called Galaxy S22. The phones will, however, be released with different specification configurations which will have different processors. In markets in countries such as the United States or South Korea, the Galaxy S22 series smartphones will receive a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, and in Europe, phones from Samsung will receive the Exynos 2200 proprietary unit. In the past, phones with different processors received radically different results in benchmarks and phone with a Qualcomm's processor fared better in the tests. In the case of the Galaxy S22 series, the difference is to be insignificant.
Two models appeared in the tests. The code name SM-S908B was designated for the S22 Ultra model with the Exynos 2200 processor, while the code name SM-908U was given to the Galaxy S22 Ultra phone with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. Both phones had 8GB RAM. In the test for single-core operation, the phone using the Exynos 2200 processor slightly won, while the smartphone using a unit developed by Qualcomm gained a slight advantage in the test of multi-core operation. However, the benchmarks clearly indicate that both processors guarantee similar results in terms of performance alone. Let's hope that it will be the same in the case of failure frequency, as in the past users have complained about the defectiveness of Exynos processors, especially in terms of heating the unit while recording movies or taking photos.
