For several years, the European Parliament has mentioned the idea of unifying the inputs for portable devices. The whole process is designed to minimize waste, so that the chargers for each device are universal. Already in June this year, the European Parliament worked out an agreement with the European Union countries on this matter. According to the upcoming changes in portable devices sold in the European Union, the input used for charging them is to be the USB-C input. After a few months, there was finally an official confirmation of the upcoming changes.

This was confirmed by the European Parliament on 4th of October. Pursuant to the agreement, all phones, tablets and cameras sold in the European Union that appear on the market by the end of 2024 must be equipped with a USB-C port. Such changes will also include laptops, which will be forced to support the USB-C port from 2026. This is certainly a big problem for Apple, which has so far used the Lightning input in its iPhones.
