The European Union has passed the new directive. It says that all devices appearing on the market must receive a special label showing how easy it will be to repair the purchased electronic product. A scale from 1 to 10 will be used for rating of this label. France will be the first country to comply with the legislation.
As announced, the French will receive special markings on the electronics they buy from January 2021. The markings of the equipment will depend, among other things, on how easily individual components can be replaced, the availability of spare parts and prices of these components. This is certainly good news for customers and new label will facilitate the purchase of new equipment in some cases. Research shows that as many as 77% of Europeans would prefer to have their equipment repaired rather than replaced by a new unit.
