MagSafe is a completely new feature added by Apple to all new phones from the iPhone 12 series. It allows you to attach various devices to the back of the phone by using a magnet located under the smartphone's cover. Thanks to this, a special wireless charger can be attached to new iPhones. It will allow users to accurately place the phone on the charger, which will ultimately allow for using the charger power to the maximum. It turns out, however, that the charging power will also depend on what exact iPhone model we will purchase.
In official Apple's documents we can find a mention that the maximum charging power of iPhones 12 using MagSafe will be 15W. However, this value will apply to all iPhones except for one model, which is the iPhone 12 mini. If you decide to buy the smallest of the new iPhones, MagSafe will allow you to charge your new device using 12W power. It is worth mentioning that these values are the maximum that can be obtained, and they may also be even smaller. Factors that will affect the speed of charging phones will be, among others, device temperature or system activity.
