Despite the abandonment of production of proprietary phones, Nokia is still very active on the market, especially when it comes to creating security solutions or building mobile networks. For this reason, other companies are willing to use solutions developed by Nokia. When we go back to 2018, it can be noticed that then Nokia concluded an official agreement with Oppo under which Oppo could use patents developed by Nokia. It turns out, however, that this contract has recently expired.
Nokia published an official announcement in which we can read that it offered Oppo to renew the terms of the contract and extend the contract for a longer period, but the proposal was rejected. For this reason, Nokia believes that Oppo's use of Nokia patents is currently illegal and Nokia has taken the case to court. Despite this, the Finnish company still hopes to reach an agreement with Oppo without waiting for a court verdict.
