Snapdragon Summit 2022 event took place from 15th to 17th November this year. It was crowned with the presentation of the latest flagship production unit of Qualcomm, as we met the successor of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. From now on, we know everything about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.

The newest unit of Qualcomm was made in a 4nm technological process. It is an octa-core processor with one fastest Cortex-X3 core (3.19 GHz clock speed), two Cortex-A715 cores clocked at 2.8 GHz, two Cortex-A710 cores clocked at 2.8 GHz and three energy-saving Cortex-A510 cores with clock speed of 2GHz. The latest GPU used in the processor, the Adreno 740, is expected to increase performance by 25%, at the same time allowing 45% more energy efficiency compared to its predecessor. Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will support QHD+ screens with a refresh rate of up to 144Hz or screens with a resolution of 4K using a refresh rate of 60Hz. It will also provide support for a new type of RAM (LP-DDR5X up to 4200MHz) and internal memory, as it will support UFS 4.0 memory. Of course, this processor work with 5G connectivity, but also the latest Wi-Fi connection standard number 7 will be compatible with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The first smartphones using the new Qualcomm's unit should appear later this month. These will probably be Xiaomi 13 and Vivo X90 Pro+.
