In terms of system updates, phones with Android could count on much shorter support than the owners of iPhones developed by Apple. Currently, however, most manufacturers are trying to extend the support period, especially when it comes to flagship models. The upcoming Pixel 6 may turn out to be a breakthrough. In terms of updates, the Sony Xperia 1 III may prove to be a negative example.

Information published by the Dutch branch of Sony indicates that the mentioned Xperia 1 III model can only receive one major system update. In addition, the company is also to provide 2 years of support for security updates. However, this is still a very disappointing result for a phone which costs 1299 euro. We can only count on the fact that the published information is a mistake on the part of Sony, and the support itself will be guaranteed for a longer time, but so far nothing indicates this.
