The main source of profit for Spotify owners are premium subscriptions including normal variant or variant dedicated for family. Although prices are quite affordable it's not difficult to find cracked Spotify apps on the Internet which allow to use every function from premium subscriptions on your main account for free. Finally Spotify decided to fight with it.
At the beginning Spotify contacted with creators of Dogfood modification and they demanded that Dogfood shouldn't be distributed in the future. Some days later people which used cracked version of Spotify app received special e-mails in which company informs that using modified version of app is illegal and violates the regulations. These users for now are safe and they won't receive any punishment, but if they will still use modified version of app, then Spotify will delete accounts of these people.
