For some time, in the European Union there have been introduced some rules to control competition among smartphone application developers so that competition between companies takes place in a legal manner. On the creators of Android, politicans enforced specific regulations like adding a screen setting the default applications to the basic functions of the phone right after its first start. It is possible that this screen will also appear on iOS. At the moment, Google is at the first position among proposed search engines in Safari on new devices. It turns out that Google has paid a very large amount of money for such positioning and this situation doesn't please the UK government.

It is officially known that Google has spent 1.5 billion of dollars on promoting its search engine among the phones available on the market. It is said that significant part of this amount of money, as much as 1.2 billion of dollars, went to Apple, which was supposed to guarantee attractive positioning of Google application. The UK government is investigating this matter and will probably want to change the rules of cooperation between Google and Apple to provide greater opportunities for other search engine manufacturers. One of the solutions that can be introduced is the previously mentioned screen for selecting default applications known from Android.
