Current year was not entirely successful for Facebook. Portal caused several scandals related to the unauthorized use of user data, and when it seemed that situation around company reassured suddenly on the Internet appeared information that photos from up to 6.8 million accounts on Facebook leaked. Error resulted from a security vulnerability of photos, and information about leak was confirmed by the company's management.

This error caused that developers of authorized applications had access to private photos of users. By private photos in this case we mean photos uploaded on Facebook but unpublished (website always saves such photos in case the user wants to upload them), photos uploaded to the Facebook Marketplace and photos from Stories. Facebook immediately apologized for the mistake in code and announced that firm works on removing these photos from website. People whose photos may have been published on the Internet without their permission will receive or have already received an appropriate warning during logging to Facebook about this situation.
