The dispute over patents between Qualcomm and Apple has been going on for several years. Tense relations between enterprises have caused a lot of difficulties in planning the future of Apple, because company still has a problem with 5G modems for iPhones. However, it turns out that the long-term conflict is slowly becoming a thing of the past.
Qualcomm's financial statements about projected revenue for the second quarter of this year included revenue from Apple's side in amount between $4.5 billion and $4.7 billion. Apple was indirectly forced to conclude this agreement by current situation on the market, because Intel decided to give up its presence on the 5G modem market. This amount of money was set by both companies under the agreement. In exchange for this sum of money, Apple received the rights to use Qualcomm's patents. Qualcomm will become the manufacturer of 5G modems for future iPhones, and the agreement provides Apple with the right to use 5G modems produced by Qualcomm for a period of 6 years.
