In 2014, Android received a big change - when recording exceeded size of 4GB, then system divided such materials into parts. This was due to the fact that at this time on the market debuted flagship of LG created in cooperation with Google, i.e. Nexus 5 which had 32GB of internal memory. Currently, phones have much more built-in memory and even despite significant development in terms of quality of recordings, memory in current smartphones allows you to store many hours of recordings. Everything seems to indicate that Google will finally remove the limit on our recordings introduced 5 years ago.

In the AOSP project you can find a recent commit about Android updates in terms of the maximum size of the video file. Users will probably be able to determine to which size recordings created using their phone will be able to increase. The new option will be able to officially appear in system only during the release of Android 11 on the market, for which we will have to wait a bit. Quite recently Android 10 was released which did not even manage to hit most of the flagship devices of large companies.
