Stories is one of the most important elements of Instagram. By uploading photos or short videos, we share them with other users who can react to them. This can be done by sending a comment on the shared content, but the app also suggests a reaction in the form of emoticons. At the moment, however, these emoticons are sent as regular text messages, which sometimes leads to unnecessary clutter of private conversations. Changes in this aspect of the functioning of Instagram have been announced by Adam Mosseri, head of the Instagram platform.

In a short film, Mosseri announced that Instagram will receive a new feature called "Private Story Likes". In practice, these will be special reactions that will be shared to the authors of Stories without the need to send a private message. Instead of messages, other users will only be sent heart icons corresponding to their Stories likes. However, Instagram will not share information about how many people have liked specific Stories. Such information will be available only to the authors of the recordings or photos after entering the appropriate tab, which also shows all accounts from which the Stories were displayed. Right next to the nicknames of individual people who liked Stories, there will be icons of hearts indicating that they sent a private like reaction for multimedia.
