During upcoming months we should expect that LG will develop microLED displays. We received information that LG ended all paperwork connected with trademarks, and the European Union confirmed three new trademarks: XµLED, SµLED, and XLµLED, all owned by LG. Previously Samsung released TV with microLED screen, and Apple also plans to use microLED displays in future, but if LG will finish all their plans then they will become the first company which will use microLED displays in smartphones, but area of application of these displays will be much wider, because LG will use its new products also in laptops or tablets.
However, there is a chance that names reserved in trademarks will be problematic for some people, because LG decided to use in them symbol known from physics - µ. People may make errors during writing name of this product by replacing this symbol with normal "u", so it will be definitely easier to use name microLED instead of µLED.
