Currently, most flagships are equipped with modems that ultimately allow 5G support. However, they are not cheap, and due to the fact that in most countries the infrastructure of telecommunications operators does not allow comfortable use of the 5G network, a significant group of customers would prefer to use only LTE and pay less for the phone in return. With such people in mind, a new version of Qualcomm's flagship processor should appear soon.

The latest information indicates that Qualcomm is serious about implementing a new version of the Snapdragon 888 processor that does not support 5G. This would lower the unit's production price, which would also translate into a lower final phone price. Such phones should generate a lot of interest in countries where 5G infrastructure will be rare for some time. Probably the first phone that could be equipped with a new unit from Qualcomm could be the upcoming Huawei P50, which is expected to have its premiere at the end of July.
