Processor manufacturing companies are constantly trying to improve the creation of new units, which is greatly helped by the development of lithographic processes. Companies outdo each other in creating new processes, with particular distinction for the largest processor manufacturers such as Samsung or TSMC. TSMC announced that by the end of 2025 the company will start producing processors in the 2nm process. Samsung responded by presenting its release plans for the coming years at the Foundry Forum 2022 event.

In the case of Samsung, the plans indicate that the company wants to produce processors in the 2nm process by 2025. The key point of the presentation, however, was the announcement of the production of processors in the 1.4nm lithographic process. According to Samsung's plans, the production of such processors would be available in 2027. The company is also aware that the diversification of activities into various sectors of the economy is important, hence Samsung expects that over 50% of units will be created not for mobile devices, but manufactured by company in order to use them, for example, in the automotive market.
