2020 was a difficult year for virtually every industry, including electronics. This is also visible in the financial results of smartphone manufacturers. Samsung also dealt with the difficult moments. Information showing the number of smartphones sold during 2020 by Samsung even indicates that it was the weakest year for Samsung's mobile department in 9 years.
The latest estimates indicate that by the end of the year Samsung will manage to reach the limit of about 270 million smartphones sold during 2020. However, this is the company's weakest result in 9 years. Since then, Samsung has regularly sold over 300 million smartphones annually. The year could be even worse, but clearly the best time for Samsung's mobile department this year was the third quarter, when as many as 189 million phones were sold. The company expects 2021 to be better. Initial plans inside the company assume that Samsung will manage to sell over 307 million of smartphones next year.
