There are currently significant problems in the processor market when it comes to their availability. This is due to deficiencies in the components necessary for their production, which is caused, among other things, by the continuing pandemic, which can be noticed especially in China. Some problems in this market are confirmed by the latest report on processor manufacturers for smartphones in the first quarter of 2022.
The total number of processors sold in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the same period in the previous year decreased by 5%. The revenues from the sale of processors for mobile devices however increased by about 23%, mainly due to the use of more expensive units supporting 5G. TSMC turned out to be the key company in terms of the production of processors for smartphones. It was responsible for the production of 69.9% of SOC units, AP units and cellular modems used on the market. The second place was taken by Samsung Foundry, while other manufacturers accounted for only 0.1% of this market.
