Replying by sending GIFs is a very popular way of responding in all IM conversations. However, their operation in WhatsApp has been slightly different from other applications so far. In order to play the GIF, users had to click on it to see its content. However, Meta is testing a new variant of playing this type of media.

If the announced changes are made to the application, GIFs inside WhatsApp will play automatically within conversations. By default, this way of playing GIFs would force it to be turned on once, and then an image will appear in a similar form to the one currently available in the application, which allows you to play the GIF after pressing it. This option is to be available to a small group of application testers.
