Google Duo is a service that is mainly used to conduct conversations in personal chats. It appeared on the market in 2016. A year later, Google added another application to its portfolio - Google Meet, which is mainly used to organize conversations and group meetings. Due to the fact that both applications serve very similar purposes, Google decided to merge both services into one.
Google announces that in the coming weeks the company will add features known from the Meet application to the Duo application. The Duo app will be renamed Google Meet later. Such a change should take place by the end of this year. Then you will not need to download a new application, and previously saved information in the application, such as chat histories or contacts, will be automatically moved to Google Meet in a new form. After introducing these changes, the application previously known as Google Meet will inform users about implemented modifications and the possibility of downloading the fresh version of Google Duo with new name.
