Samsung recorded record sales of its smartphones in 2017, when the company managed to sell as many as 320 million phones in 12 months. Since then, the company has never once managed to exceed the threshold of 300 million smartphones sold during the year. After weaker years, however, Samsung has gradually recorded better and better sales results. Estimated sales for this year are 260 million smartphones sold in 2022, which would mean a jump by 10 million phones sold compared to the result for 2021. Samsung expects 2023 to be even better.

According to preliminary estimates, Samsung indicates that in 2023 the company is going to sell 270 million phones. This number would consist of about 60 million S and Z series phones classified as flagship and 210 million devices from the budget Galaxy A and M series. In achieving the intended result, the production of foldable phones will be key, as currently Samsung should be classified as the unambiguous leader in this segment, and in the near future, competing manufacturers such as Google intend to enter the market with their foldable smartphones, which may make it difficult for Samsung to sell the planned number of these phones.
