Qualcomm is one of the leading manufacturers of smartphone components. This is especially true for phones that use Android. One of Qualcomm's components is the Mobile Station Modem. MSM is used to control cellular communication. This unit is used in phones from companies such as Google, Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi or LG. A security research company called Check Point published a report in which it identified vulnerabilities in this component.

The vulnerabilities found mean that by using MSM, hackers can upload malware to individual phones, which allows them to access the call history on the device, but also to text messages or even listen to phone calls. Qualcomm, aware of this problem, released the MSM patch in December 2020, but then the company did not present the phones that received this update. Check Point indicates that in order to maintain security measures and protect yourself against hackers, you should use up-to-date versions of the system and download applications only from official sources, which will significantly reduce the chance of a successful hacker attack.
