TikTok is the most growing social media platform currently available. This application is gaining importance especially among younger users. However, this poses significant threats to the users themselves. TikTok is aware of this and for this reason, in order to protect its younger audience, TikTok imposes new restrictions on the accounts of underage users.
The first change concerns the notifications sent. Users between the ages of 13 and 15 will not receive any notifications after 9 p.m. local time, and those aged 16 or 17 will not receive any notifications after 10 p.m. local time. This is to reduce the pressure of wanting to view applications late in the day. In addition, from now on, people aged 16 and 17 will have to determine whether other people will be able to download recordings of their authorship placed on TikTok. For those under the age of 16, this option will be set to off by default. TikTok also introduces a change to the default options for exchanging messages. From now on, underage users will be blocked from receiving direct messages, while people aged 16 or 17 will be able to unblock it in the settings.
