VentureBeat reported that Intel has a group of 1000 engineers working on a new modem for a future iPhone. It may be the Intel 7360 LTE modem, supporting 4G LTE and 3g CDMA. With the modem, the device would have a better battery life (which was a problem in the past models of iPhone) and faster speed. This could also lead to thinner iPhone designs. Components would be integrated, which means less space required and - thatnks to that - thinner phones.
Infineon, the wireless company that Intel acquired, had supplied 3G modems for Apple's iPhone until 2011. Apple has since switched to Qualcomm as its modem supplier. In addition to mobile, Intel's processors are also found on Apple's OS X products.
