We informed this week that Xiaomi is working on their new in-house processor named Surge S2. Despite the fact that this processor will have its premiere soon, Xiaomi still receives a lot of offers of cooperation, because many companies want to use Surge S1 processor in their devices. One company that expressed interest in working with a Chinese company is HMD, which is responsible for the production of Nokia phones.
For now in Nokia phones HMD used only chipsets made by Qualcomm and MediaTek, but firm plans to release completely new mid-range smartphone which will have Surge S1 if all negotiations will end successfully. At this moment only one phone available on market has this chipset - it's Xiaomi Mi5c, but as we can see this situation probably will change in nearest future. Just to remind us, Surge S1 is octa-core processor with 4 Cortex A53 cores clocked at 2,2GHz, and 4 Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1,4GHz.
