Waterproofing has long been a key selling point of the Xperia line, however, from today the things change. Guidelines for the newest Sony flagship - Sony Xperia Z5 say you shouldn't take your device underwater, and, if you do so, you will lose its warranty.

The device was tested and it is being immersed in fresh water for 30 minutes in depths of up to 1.5 metres, but Sony says to do it at your on risk. Conditions for tests were articifial, and we can't be sure that in real life the results will be the same.

The updated guidelines apply to all three models of the Xperia Z5 and you can read them for yourself on the official Sony website. "You should not put the device completely underwater or expose it to seawater, salt water, chlorinated water or liquids such as drinks," it says.

So is it safe to do so or we have to find another phone to take our underwater pictures? For the moment, it's hard to tell.
