It's only a matter of time until the 5G modules replace popular LTE network. However, it involves high costs, and the development of the 5G network for large companies will pay if and only if a wide group of customers will have access to this type of connection. That's why large companies did not waste their time and quickly began trying to create the world's first 5G modem. Samsung was the first company which successfully created this modem.
First 5G modem received name Samsung Exynos 5100. How we can read on official Samsung's website, modem will be created on 10-nanometer process technology. Modem supports all older networks including 2G GSM/CDMA, 3G WCDMA, TD-SCDMA, HSPA, and 4G LTE. This information means that modem could be implemented in upcoming devices and users for now will use 4G connectivity. After upgrade of network conditions which will allow comfortable using of 5G, then the same smartphone will handle with new type of network. First units of Samsung Exynos 5100 will be available for customers by the end of 2018.
