TikTok is a social networking site which reach have recently surpassed the creators' wildest expectations. Many known influencers from other portals such as Instagram or Snapchat are making their accounts on TikTok, but as it turns out, videos created by some people may not appear on the portal at all. Why? TikTok has introduced some restrictions on videos created by people with disabilities.
TikTok's algorithm is designed to search for and recognize films created by people with facial deformities or Down Syndrome and limit their ranges (for example, publishing a movie among users from only one country), and in some cases it is designed to prevent videos of people with disabilities from getting to list of the most popular recordings. The producer commented on this and confirmed that the moderators received instructions on films created by people with disabilities, but the whole action was aimed at reducing mobbing which often in cases of people with disabbilites unfortunately is very popular. Ultimately, the effect of the actions was quite the opposite, because limiting the reach of films of people can be treated as discrimination, despite the fact that the creators of TikTok aimed to take care of their mental and physical well-being. Portal owners ensure that the algorithm is temporary and that restrictions will be removed over time. It is possible that after the outbreak of this scandal even faster than it was originally assumed.
