In 2017, YouTube introduced a feature called Reels to its portal, which was renamed Stories a year later. This option allowed users to update their status in the form of a short video. However, the current situation on the market meant that the interest in Stories on YouTube decreased, so it was decided to remove this function from the portal.

Ultimately, Stories are to be entirely replaced by Shorts recordings. Social card updates via text status update will still be possible. The change has already been officially announced by YouTube on the official blog, where it was confirmed that the Stories service will be turned off on 26th of June 2023. Stories shared before that date will be deleted within seven days of their publication.
