Chinese companies such as ZTE and Xiaomi have always been reluctantly let in on the market in the United States. The first of the above mentioned companies has now a big problem, which will force it to pay enormous amount of money.
ZTE broke the ban imposed by the United States in 2013 which says that ZTE can produce their units in USA, but then company can't sell their devices to Iran and North Korea. However, as the documents show, in the years 2010-2016 Chinese company sold its routers and servers to these countries. ZTE by this time tried to hide the evidence, but this effort hadn't succeed. For example, equipment was sold to North Korea in 283 shipments. ZTE pleaded guilty, which will cause that the punishment will be slightly smaller, but still amount of money to be paid by the company is gigantic - Department of Justice has determined a punishment for 1.19 billion dollars.
