For almost two years now, many companies have been forced to work remotely. This also applies to the largest companies on the market. Gradually, however, companies plan to return to work in a stationary or hybrid manner. For this reason, Google plans to tighten vaccination rules in the context of its employees. For people who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19, the company plans to implement specific penalties.
The announced penalties apply to Google employees from the United States. Penalties may be imposed if workers won't be vaccinated by 18th of January 2022. Google announces that initially it may be a forced 30-day paid vacation. After this time, the employee will be redirected to unpaid leave, which may last up to six months. After this period, the unvaccinated employee may be sacked from work. The announced changes apply to employees who are to return to work in the office. Compulsory COVID-19 vaccination will not be required for those who will be able to continue working remotely.
