Collecting user data is nothing extraordinary nowadays. Thanks to this, enterprises can tailor advertisements to the interests of customers, and smartphones basing on visited websites, location information or regularity of using a given application adapt the system to a specific user. All this, of course, happens after the user's consent, but the latest rumors indicate that Xiaomi may also collect data about its users without their knowledge. All thanks to a web browser, which according to journalists can even collect information when using the incognito mode.
It is certain that Xiaomi collects information, among other things, about the browsing history or search results from users, and sends this data to external servers. This is evidenced by the browser code, which was analyzed by experts who confirm that uploading of data sets to servers in Russia and Singapore from domains registered in Beijing is true. There are even videos on YouTube showing how Xiaomi collects information about its users. The company reacted quickly to this information by publishing a statement in which we can read that Xiaomi respects all applicable laws in the world and it isn't collecting more information than those allowed by the regulations, among others, to improve the comfort of using smartphones. However, it must be admitted that the fact of collecting information about users using the incognito mode is worrisome.
